Understanding General Assemblies (GA)
Purpose of General Assemblies:
General Assemblies (GA) are openintegral to allthe members.functioning Theof followingStudSec, itemsproviding area toplatform befor discusseddecision-making, duringmember theseparticipation, and organizational transparency.

Motions:
Submission: Members may submit
a motionmotions during the
GA, the board is not obligated to accept the motion. The exception to this is the vote of no confidence, which may always be submitted if supported by 30% of members, as specified in article 11.2.e of the statutes.
Proposals
A member may submit a written proposal to board@studsec.nl up to 6 days before a GA. The board is not obligated to consideraccept every motion except for a vote of no confidence supported by 30% of members (Art. 11.2.e of the Statutes).
Procedure: Motions can cover a range of topics relevant to the association. They are discussed and voted upon during the GA.

Procedure: The board considers these proposals, which can then be discussed and voted upon during the GA.

Announcement:
Timing: The GA is announced at least 10 days in advance,
asincluding specifiedtime, indate, articlepreliminary agenda, and general location (Statutes Art. 13.
22).

Discussion:
Discussion
Through the Chair: All

chair,chair. Raise your hand or wait for your turn to speak. The chair may limit speaking turns to ensure the meeting remains orderly.
Voting:
Procedures: Votes take place by a show of hands unless anyone requests a written vote (Statutes Art. 15.5.1).
Board Dismissal: During a vote, if
a show of hands results in abstinence, this alternative method helps ensure fairness (House Rule 5.5.4).
Proxies: In case of absence, you
wishmay authorize another member to
speakvote on your behalf by informing the Secretary (Statutes Art. 14.4).
